Introduction of LETICIA REGIDOR MEMORIAL FOUNDATION,INC.
【History】
The LETICIA REGIDOR MEMORIAL FOUNDATION, INC. is a brainchild of those who have had personal acquaintances with the late Leticia Regidor, a former Barangay Captain of Barangay San Jose, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite and was also a former President of the Association of Barangay Captains(ABC) of the said municipality. She had been an ardent civil-servant and community leader during her incumbency. The present officers of the Foundation are known leaders in their respective communities who had seen the need to bind together their individual talents and skills into an organization geared towards helping the people of General Mariano Alvarez, in particular, and of Cavite, in general, which was the dream of the late Barangay Captain Leticia Regidor.
It is the prime objective of the organizers to continue the dream and vision of the late barangay captain to uplift the lives and well-being of the less-fortunate and less-privileged people in the former resettlement area of the government. With the enthusiastic approval and support of the Regidor family, the foundation was conceptualized and the organizational framework realized through a series of meetings that started during the early months of year 2001. Fully aware that the financial assistance aspect is an essential requirement of the proposed programs, the organizers seek foreign assistance and, fortunately, found it from foreign friends of the Regidor clan, especially Dr. KAZUMA NISHII, who has a soft spot in his heart for the welfare of the Filipino indigents.
On a meeting held on September, 2002, the formal organization was created and the initial officers appointed from among the organizing members, thereby unanimously choosing the former mayor and a close friend of the Regidor family, Mr. ANTONIO G. VIRATA, to spearhead the new organization.
The official swearing in /oathtaking of the founding Board of Trustees was held on October 28, 2002 at Karunungan Village, Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, with the Honorable Gilbert Remulla, Congressman of the 2nd District of Cavite, as Guest Speaker and Inducting Officer. Sworn in as members of the Board of Trustees are : ANTONIO G. VIRATA, president; EDGAR V. TOMALIN, Sr., vice president/secretary; RAMON I. REGIDOR, treasurer; KAZUMA NISHII, trustee; SATOSHI NISHII, trustee; LORNA R. NAGAI, trustee; and EDWIN V. TOMALIN, trustee. Also on hand to witness the occasion are various barangay community leaders and non-government organization leaders. Highlighting the event is the distribution of wheelchairs to selected physically-handicapped beneficiaries coming from different barangays of Gen. Mariano Alvarez. Twenty-seven (27) units of brand-new wheelchairs, donated by Fiesta Inc. of Satoshi Nishii, were personally awarded to the beneficiaries by Mr. Antonio Virata, Dr. Kazuma Nishii, Satoshi Nishii, Congressman Gilbert Remulla and the other trustees.
The Foundation was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 20, 2003 under SEC Reg. No. CN200301529 as a non-stock, charitable organization.
